The MAGA Republican Attorney General Dave Yost is holding Duck Creek Energy accountable after they illegally abandoned their radioactive AquaSalina producing facility right on the Cuyahoga River. This left the property owner, Cleveland Cliffs, with a radioactive mess. Yost's complaint admits, "Elevated levels of radioactivity may create risks to both human health and the environment."
According to Duck Creek Energy, AquaSalina is derived from conventional oil and gas waste brine which proves exactly what Buckeye Environmental Network has been saying all along. Concentrations of conventional well waste will accumulate and be detrimental to human health and the environment.
According to a Bloomberg Law article, Duck Creek Energy's leftover mess was demolished by Cleveland Cliffs leading to millions of dollars in damage from brine waste and oil spilling onto the ground.
Attorney General is levying fines of $10,000 a day until the parties are in compliance with the law.
How do we make sure that radioactive contamination doesn't continue to occur in Ohio? Join us at our upcoming phone bank on March 30th at 12 PM to ban oil and gas waste spreading on roadways in Ohio. We'll be calling 20 legislators on the senate and house natural resources committee to support of HB 439 and SB 329.
